I work with a disabled individual who only uses his computer to play bejeweled but his hard drive went bad. I had a freind put puppy Arcade on a flash drive for me thinking that might be included but it turns out to be a game emulator with no games pre installed. I either need to figure out how to i...

Hello, delmar. This is not a joke about metals! Try Iron instead of Chrome? Iron is based on Chrome, but with better anonymity. -- https://www.srware.net/en/software_srware_iron_download.php -- BFN. musher0 I will check that out, but I have my doubts since Chromium isn't working for me either. The ...

I was asked in a PM if there is more than one sound card in alsamixer. Yes, there is. This info gave me a way to turn the sound off while I poked around a bit more. The issue with my not being able to adjust the volume was that I was using the Master volume control but the master mono seem to be the...

adjusting volume in puppy?
I am runny puppy on several machines and the sound volume control seems to have no affect on the volume. I have gone to setup. The control does move the meter up and down on the "mixer" but has no affect on the sound. One thread suggested right clicking on the volume control and opening th...

Hi Delmar, If you can add RAM definitely do so. Or you could try adding a Swap Partition of 512 mb to 1 gb. To make a 1 gb Swap Partition on the Hard Drive: - boot Puppy from the CD. At the first pause in the boot sequence press F2 and type puppy pfix=ram - click Menu > System > Gparted - select th...

I'm trying to remember. Basically hated Windows and couldn't make sense of my free Ubuntu disc. Was on dialup so Puppy (1.07) was a viable option. So much simple. The only thing I ever hated about Windows is that every new incarnation of it is a bigger hog of resources than the last. Need more Ram,...

Re: $41.40 - 2002 IBM ThinkPad T30 / running Slacko Puppy 5.3.1
I built brought back to life a very cheap machine today running Slacko Puppy Linux 5.3.1. For $25 I was able to pickup a 2002 IBM ThinkPad T30 laptop, that once upon a time ran Windows XP. The installation did not go quite as planned, but I was able to get the machine up and running again. Since th...

How did you get interested in Linux/ Puppy?
I work at a non profit day program with adults with mental retardation. One of my responsibilities is to run a computer lab. Using games and such to teach our people the basics of using a mouse, roller ball or touch screen, the best they can, so we can identify what sort of assistive technologies ea...

How do I go into root?
Somebody that I trust, but can't reach this weekend, gave me instructions to:
"Go into /root/Startup and give the newly copied chrome_start.sh executable permissions" What does that mean and how do I get there?

Ok gang, I got my swap partition set up.Something funky happend alog the way though. In a partition that started out as 1 gig I only ended up with 681 MIB of unalicated space. For now, I seem to be following the directions for creating a swap partition more clearly than the directions for a creating a swap file. So since I have already that drive partitioned I will head in that direction. If I understand correctly my save file should not be in that partition, is that corr...
