@peebee Oh it's on Github now? Thanks for the link. Couldn't find that info searching in the usual places. Seems to be the exact same thing in terms of file modification dates, so it's good to know there's another place to get a copy. Gtkdialog is a pretty nice alternative to Zenity for the more com...

One last followup post: I tested compiling this on several Puppy Linux versions (Slacko, TahrPup64 and Precise) as well as Ubuntu 16.04 and Vector Linux. Builds fine with the correct dev packages installed.

Nevermind that last question!

Good news! I found it on a old archive of mine I forgot to look in. Actually, I thought I had deleted that long ago. Heh, guess I was still holding on to a copy of it after all. Not planning on getting rid of my old source archives either. I'l be linking the source code for gtkdialog here for anyone...

Gtkdialog source download locations. [Solved]

Yeah this is going to be a problem. https://gtkdialog.googlecode.com/files/gtkdialog-0.8.3.tar.gz 404, glorious 404. Can anyone point me to the source code of gtkdialog? I need to compile from source of a distro that doesn't have it available (Ubuntu 16.04LTS to be specific). I need it for various s...

Dead download link, drivers don't work.

What happened to the iP1800 download link? It's dead. Anyway, I was able to get cnijfilter-ip1800series from Canon's website. It doesn't work. The printer is added successfully, but it just dosen't print. Absolutely no errors of any kind, and I have no idea what's wrong. Tried both the package you m...

Thank you.

@vicmz Thank you very much for that package link. I needed an upgraded ffmpeg and could'nt find it. Also, nice profile picture. :D @zigbert I was just gonna complain how it kept crashing and refusing to open with gtkdialog errors. Then I realized my oops. I forgot to delete the .pmusic folder to era...

Re: Vive slacko 5.3.3thin

Why so many people spend time to renew a perfect slacko as the 5.3.3 ? For most people installing the newest web browser and possibly LibreOffice is enough, as you mentioned it just works flawlessly for the most part. I'm more of what you'd call a Linux "expert" so I like to heavily custo...

Lots of the libraries I need to build GCC require upgrading lots more libraries, at least that's my experience from doing it a few times in that past. It gets complicated after a while of building like 20 dependencies. I end up having to upgrade nearly the whole build system (autoconf, make, m4, bis...

@Carl Godt Thanks. I will say Puppy does lack fallbacks in quite a few places, except for Xorg and network configuration. However, this over simplicity is why it's so fast and light. I'd say personally, it's fairly well balanced between lightness, and complexity, but you do have to be willing to lea...

After some testing, I have come to the conclusion modifying the script as I mentioned in my original post, it does indeed permanently fix the problem. It works perfectly without issue after commenting out those four lines. @musher0 I have stated the version in the title of the post. Slacko 5.3.3. I ...

Nope. Not happening. It crashes even harder. Good thing I backed up the old version before upgrading. cat: /var/local/petget/si_category: No such file or directory /usr/local/bin/ppm: line 86: /usr/local/petget/service_pack.sh: No such file or directory /usr/bin/gcc cat: /root/.packages/devx-only-in...

@bigpup
I'l go ahead and try version 2. I can tell by the way PPM looks that it certainly isn't the most up to date version. It does work well though, besides failing to get dependencies from time to time.

Bug in Puppy Package Manager old versions, EX: Slacko 5.3.3.

UPDATED INFORMATION: Cause of the issue has been found. This bug is caused by a race condition, and the package manager's filter scripts do not handle the situation incorrectly. My initial assumption is an incorrect config is saved somewhere if you don't set the filters back to default before exitin...

I'l give your instructions a try and report back. About upgrading... well... FGLRX 12.6 is not compatable with newer then 2014 versions of Xorg. And I definitely need the proprietary drivers. Plus, my computer freezes regularly with kernels newer then 3.8. It's a bug in the motherboard chipset, I'm ...

Yeah, that's the right plugin hangouts says to install. I'm using Slacko 5.3.3, with some minor patches and upgrades. Recent versions of nearly all software work just fine. I'm using the latest version of the Seamonkey Browser if that helps. Just tried the .pet you linked, still got the same problem...

How to upgrade libstdc++?

Is it possible to install a newer version of libstdc++ alongside the already installed version? I need to use Google Voice (VOIP Service) and it uses the Google Hangouts browser plugin. Which requires GLIBCXX_3.4.15 or higher to be installed. Any suggestions? According to readelf, the maximum versio...

Bad copy

Fixed it. For some reason, the MD5 matched, but downloading a new copy fixed it. Most likely my flash drive had some weakly written information in the flash and rewriting it solved the problem. That was one of the oddest bugs I'v ever seen a disk problem cause. Thanks for letting me know that it did...
