A bit more on the PA11 front...
I have been diverted by other matters for quite some time...but here goes a little more of my input.I hope that your health has worked out, Scott. I found some workbench roms for the amiga emulator and it provided the ancient amigados/graphical interface just fine. So that is that. But it runs impos...

More bits and pieces
Hi all (and Scott)... This is weird - I get back to doing personal computing stuff on Wednesday only to find that you responded the day prior! That is a bit of bad timing since I had been away for a while. If only I had gotten to this one day sooner..... The issue of drivers and such is a topic in i...

A lot to say about this distro
Hello, Scott.... I resumed my look into PA about a day after you released the newest version. It seems nice, but I am still trying to learn much about computers, so I view most anything new here as a challenge to learn more - so a novel item just means more work for me. This may be why I am sparing ...

No ethernet available
I have not seen many complains about a dead network connection, but I have tried Puppy Arcade 10 with a a few computers and keep getting no eth0 device at all. I assume this is due to missing drivers and computers that might be too new (although I tried one that is a few years old). Is there any adv...

Getting back to you...
Hi there -
Sorry for the delayed response, but I was away. Anyhoo, I tried the new setup pet and everything works fine now. I feel better now that I was not making a silly mistake. Thanks for your prompt attention and your work on adapting the LX/Compiz interface to Slacko.
Steven

Hate to say this, but....
I am a bit embarrassed to say that I tried to get your updated version to work, but no luck. I followed the instructions in post #1 exactly using the newest (after Nov. 17) versions of the two sfs files and the setup pet. I used a new (RAM mode) load of Slacko 5.6 and did the sfs-load-on-the-fly in ...

Response to peebee
I have only recently been playing with GUI modifications - after trying to learn more fundamentals on Linux - Puppy or otherwise. After learning how to manipulate pinboards/desktops, file managers, window managers, etc., I thought I had a nice setup, but I am totally blown away by peebee's and other...

Hey you, don570!!!
I have followed with great interest the subject of the cheap, small arm devices. They have proliferated like mad, and I was wondering what the best sources of info are on them - like what are the best sites to read up on the latest items. I am tired of find a reference to a great, new product only t...

A little more on the Slacko & VLC relationship
I talked a few weeks ago about using the vlc-gtk as a light and easy way to get a gui for vlc. earlier in this thread it was shown that the main vlc program was lacking some dependencies that presumably are associated with non-slackware versions of puppy. I never resolved that problem, but the slack...

Totally awesome......so far
Hi all.... I was started on this kick of acquiring video over the net (in a variety of ways) and had varying degrees of luck. Some browser plugins do a lot, but big sites like Hulu seem to evade me. Maybe the usual capture plugins just need to be updated - I have not tried it in a while. This thread...

A bit more off topic, also....
Thanks for the helpful reply, scottman. It think it is safe to say that the vlc (via cli) was lacking the appropriate codecs due to missing library files. This is based on the error messages in the cli environment within the running vlc process. Test videos would play the audio in some cases, but ne...

Sorry to bother with this...
Sorry to bother all of you, but I followed the installation instructions in detail both from this thread and the vlc_nogui-1.1.9 thread, and I have a problem. The cli version runs, but responds with a no decoder error on every video. Are there codecs that need to be installed? How would I do that? M...

Uses of the conf file and quirks in the client filesystem
Hi all - I have a few questions on this subject. I am new to "power user" type topics, so I was wondering if there are sites that really give great info on how to do media streaming, protocol types, etc. Because it seems that this thread would be very popular for people wanting to use pupp...

Flash player not working in any browser
Hi, all. I am running Slacko 5.3.1....and I was just web browsing one day and suddenly flash video stopped working. When a video is started, simply a blank window appears where the video should be. I can't think of anything that I changed at that exact moment or just before. I have tried uninstallin...

Sounds familiar...........
Hello, all.... I have hit a number of little problems since I began using Puppy....lots of 'tempests in a teapot'. One of them sounds similar to this. I downloaded a recent version of Firefox and was able to immediately get add-ons with no trouble. A few days later, I tried to do the same, and searc...
