Well I have been using Linux lite for a few days now,and it really is good, fast and so far, rock solid, I can recommend giving it a try.

but could not get it to run in carolina 1.0 (full install), but it runs in upup precise (frugal install), what am I doing wrong ?.

A bit off topic, but it would be wonderful if puppy could run emc2, with its ability to run on ancient hardware, it would make for an ideal platform for a workshop cnc control, maybe it can and I have not come across it, if so apologies.
