I used LiLi USB Creator to create a Live USB with Puppy on it. Here's the download for the program, if you didn't use that: http://www.linuxliveusb.com/ It's a really slick program, easy to use and so far I haven't had a problem with it. Try to format your USB, and start over with that program (assu...

Ah, I didn't even see that wizard until I went and looked for it.
Gracias, I'll give that a shot.

Sound suddenly gone after a full install

I installed Macpup (the most recent build) today on an old Dell Inspiron. Before the install, I was able to listen to audio and such. However, after I wiped the hard drive of Windows and put Macpup on the thing, the sound is no longer existent... I messed around with Alsamixer, and turned up all the...

Ty I had that problem on an AOpen Barebone AZ915 something and that one had Intel chips too. older so it had 915 instead of 945 like your seems to have. There are threads where them have tried to get this going but it is not so easy to search for. One need to think of the right search word and set ...

If thermal was not loaded it would still over heat. when you modprobe and get no response back - means i...

How to manually operate system fans?

So my Toshiba Satellite L305 has been overheating and shutting down while I've been running Puppy Linux. I tried the newest version (5.2.5) and my system fans would not respond at first. So, I switched over to Macpup ( I love that thing's interface the most anyway.) I forced the acpi, which got my f...

Well, forcing ACPI did turn on my fan, which allowed for a long operating time. However, soon after my last post my system reached 100 C (the suggested shut off is 105 C.) So, I powered off my computer... Now the fan is working, at least. However, it does not kick on and cool down the system when it...

Thank you all for your help, it's much appreciated. It appears that the command: "puppy acpi=foce" was successful in starting my fan. I've been running Macpup for the past 20 or so minutes, and have CPUtemp checking my system temps, and it's stayed below 90 C for awhile... It's rising a bi...

Huh, mine definitely don't.

Like I mentioned earlier, somewhere in my ramblings, I'm running Macpup now... Even when I was running Lucid Pup, my fan didn't work, though. My computer still would overheat and crash.

Have you tried menu - system - system status & config - CPU Frequency Scaling Tool? Also, in a terminal, type "lsmod" and see if you have a module called fan loaded. I've tried the CPU Frequency Scaling Tool already, and selected all the drivers available in the list it provides, but ...

Hi, Welcome to the forums. I will be watching this thread with interest. I would hope that fan control was automatic. Fan won't run in Puppy

Hey, I'm a newbie to Linux, I've been slowly making the transition from a lifetime with Windows within the past few weeks. Due to the fact that I am short of money at the moment and can't afford a new computer or an external HD, I've been running Puppy Linux, as well as other light distros, off of a...
