Has anyone installed GnuCash on Puppy?

Has anyone had any success installing GnuCash on Puppy. I downloaded GnuCash and all the software it depends on (Gnome2, guile, slib, g-wrap) and tried to follow all the install files without success. Is there any reason it can't work on Puppy. I was using Puppy 2.10 Professional CE. Puppy is instal...

Mean Puppy 2.02 plays Realplayer .ram video!

I have a lot of .ram video files that have never played in puppy until I tried John's Mean Puppy 2.02 with opera 9.01. I don't know why this is but with other versions of Puppy ( 1.0.5, 1.0.9ce, 2.10, etc...) I get error codes like : error loading library :drv3.so.6.0 or :cook.so.6.0 Mean Puppy play...

I checked out Gnucash at their web site. This statement made me wonder if Puppy could run it.
GnuCash 2.0 can be downloaded from sourceforge.net. It is available as source code.

To install GnuCash, users will need Gnome 2, guile, slib and g-wrap.
Anyone know if these are in Puppy?

I have used Puppy for certain things in my business, but always need windows for Quickbooks. Now that 2.03ce is out, everything but Quickbooks and OO Base is there. These two programs are the only ones holding me back from using Puppy full time.

Don't get me wrong, I think this version of Puppy is the best ever. I do love everything else about it. Nobody, and I mean "NOBODY" does Linux as well as Puppy.

2.03CE Open Office needs Java for OO Base

I am very happy with Puppy 2.03ce. One minor detail. Could this version be re-issued with Java so I can use Open Office Base? Java is required to be able to use Base.

I don't know if this is a SimplePup problem or a problem on my end:

1. Pupget seems to work fine but the software I download never shows up in any of the directories. Same problem with DotPup.
2. No games -- where are the games?

I can run OpenOffice from SimplePup using Vector

I don't know how useful this will be to anyone. But I booted with SimplePup, used mutt to open the partition where Vector is installed on my machine and ran the Soffice program. Openoffice 2.0 opened and ran perfectly.
What is this good for? Anyone have any ideas?

I really enjoyed reading all these comments. I believe in using what works. DOS still can do many usefull things. Win98se is still good if you use it for simple things that use mostly Windows standard drivers. I use Open Office in Vector for most business needs. Puppy is for Internet and Email. Pupp...

Just off the top of my head I would say you will need to decrease the size of the fat partition. You might have 750 mb free in c:\ but it is not available to use for a swap file. There is software that can do this and maintain the windows installation, but there is always the chance you could wipe ou...

Here is a reminder of what Puppy is trying to be: Mission Statement * Puppy will easily install to USB, Zip or hard drive media. * Booting from CD, Puppy will load totally into RAM so that the CD drive is then free for other purposes. * Booting from CD, Puppy can save everything back to the CD, no n...

Looking at the post here, I think you can see that every person has different needs and uses for computers. In my experience, no one program or operating system can fill every need or want. fancy/stupid office apps (other than a word processor). I can count the number of powerpoints I've made in my ...

I have a little different take on this subject. I have several different needs because I run a business on my computer both at home and on the road with a laptop. At home I need to run Quickbooks for my business so I use Windows 3.11 and Quickbooks 5.0, which are both older software. 3.11 boots very...

I was amazed how fast it loaded and ran. Very good start. With the speed of puppy, KDE and IceWM both look very good. This could develop into a spin-off of Puppy. Have you thought of adding either Koffice or OpenOffice 2.0? Kuppy would run rings around other KDE distros.
