BrowserLinux + Chromium
This link: http://www.browserlinux.com/software/IronBrowser-10.0.650.0.pet has no mention of Iron browser that I can find. Nor does the Youtube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mW6iaJ2nOHo help any (outdated?). Can Iron browser still be added to BrowserLinux 501, or do I need to aim for Browse...

If it is a Ethernet (wired) connection. Usually it should auto connect. If wireless wifi connection. You do have to choose your wifi source and enter some information to connect. It can not guess this stuff. Only have to do it one time and set it as default wifi connection. Next time you boot up, i...

Auto internet connection?
The last Puppy I tried (4.2.1 'Deep Thought') did not connect to the internet on its own. I had to fuss with network configuration thingie. Does the current version 8.0 connect automatically like Linux Mint, MX Linux, etc.?

For very new hardware, the newest Puppy version would be best. Bionicpup64 8.0 Will any version connect to the internet on its own, without me having to fuss with the 'internet connection'? If you use a Ethernet connection (wired connection). That usually just auto connects. With a WIFI connection,...

Re: Which version of Puppy should I try?
It has been a long time since I tried Puppy (4.2.1 'Deep Thought'). I'd like to give Puppy another test drive. The choices are: Bionicpup 8.0 Xenial Pup 7.5 Tahrpup 6.0.5 Slacko Pup 6.3.2 I will be buying one of the above next month from OSDisc, as a 64-bit LiveCd. I'm running a Dell Optiplex 755 w...

Re: Which legacy Puppy is best for my project?
Unfortunately the link takes me to info sources I found awhile ago, which are either outdated (one stops at the AMD 64-bit Opteron and Athlon64 era), or appear to require more knowledge than newbie-level to use. From what I've seen, it does appear that Geforce 6800 series will work "with XFree8...

around the pups you mentioned eide / sata (libata) was a bit messed up so ended up with 2 kernels ...one to support each. I don't believe eide would affect you anyway as thats earlier than the ide you probably mean. As it happens lucid and perhaps others seem to be no problem in this respect. OS de...

Unfortunately, once the parts-list is finalized, components acquired, and sent to the custom-build shop...its a case of too little too late. Any distro that does not work on the finished PC will have to be left by the wayside, so I'm doing my best to make sure Puppy is good to go. In short, I'm sort...

Re: Which legacy Puppy is best for my project?
Many thanks! Site link does indeed look helpful. I'll study it. Senex , Since Debian 5 (Lenny) is based on kernel 2.6.25 it might be useful to look at the documentation for supported hardware as listed by the Debian 5 team: http://www.debian.org/releases/lenny/i386/ch02s01.html.en This documentation...

First tell us your intended parts list -- at least how much RAM you intend to install. There is a Puppy for nearly anything that has more than 256 MB of RAM. Please note this parts-list is tentative. I'm still trying to iron out the wrinkles, trim the fat, make sure there are no incompatibilities, ...

Which legacy Puppy is best for my project?
I'm doing a custom-build intended to run various legacy version distros, and need to look over list of hardware supported by kernel 2.6.25.16; change logs & .config files for Puppy 4.2.1, or anything else that can help me determine whether or not my intended parts-list will support this version,...

Inkjet printer recommendations
Looking for a Linux friendly single-function inkjet printer. Must have separate color ink cartridges that are not outrageously overpriced. No wireless (wi-fi, bluetooth, etc.) machines. If anyone has (or had) a printer that meets all the requirements, please advise brand & model number, so I can...

Thanks but looking for something readymade.
Maybe this will be useful: http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=22805 I think there was a puplet based on Puppy 4.1.1 or something which was built with KDE but I can't remember the name of it. It's not Puppy, but Slax was a lightweight distro with working KDE. http://www.slax.org/ I'm plann...
