Puppy-based web server went from root to NOBODY!
I've been running a Web server on Puppy 4.1 for more than a year with no issues. Today, all my scripts that require write permissions failed. The file is created but never populated with data. The user name has switched to nobody from root. I have not done anything but turned on my computer today. I...

When I press Z^, everything goes dark and the power switch blinks. When I press the power switch again, the power light is constant but nothing else appears to be happening. The correct display is listed, but doesn't quite look right on the screen. Round objects appear to be a bit oval. External USB...

Thanks for the reply. The two finger scroll does not appear to work. In addition, when I plug in a USB mouse, it is not recognized. Most things appear to be working. I did lose the Volume widget on the task bar. I'm not sure what the Z^ key does. When I pressed it, the screen went blank and appeared...

Same here. I have used a USB LG Slim DVD on my Eees with Puppy 4.12 and 4.2 for more than a year with no problem making CD-ROMs, ripping music and DVDs, and alike. Today, neither of them saw my USB DVD after 1/2 hour of trying but had no problems with any other device. Very weird! Any suggestions wo...

jemimah tat sounds awesome! I use Puppy on my 701 (I'm using it now) and my 900A for the road. Got the 900A for $150. I'd love to have a Puppy designed just for the Eee. I use my 900A in public presentations. It is sometimes difficult to get the it to work with big data projectors. Where will you po...

I do a lot with XML and I think this is what happened to this page. The page left the server flagged as an XML document. This would explain the XML entity error listed. Seamonkey processes a page as it is flagged. As an XML document, it fist must be parsed then processed. The errant entity '<' cause...

Connection issues with growler-amp_412.sfs on Puppy 4.2
I have got growler-amp_412.sfs working fine on three installations of Puppy 4.12. Awesome! I just installed Puppy 4.2 on a new laptop and having 'Fail to Connect, connection refused' message when I try to access localhost. I did change the name to growler-amp_420.sfs for the Boot Config. I know it i...
