Im playing with Upup Raring 3.8.7 and Im trying to install gnome-shell using PPM. Seems to download all needed dependencies and all but I cant seem to make it work correctly.

I tried using a simple .xinitrc
exec gnome-session
and another is
exec ck-launch-session dbus-launch --exit ...

just as stated above...check first if the two computers have a NIC aka LAN Cards...if so then just use a cross-over ethernet cable and connect the two NIC...

run puppy on both computers...
assign static ip on both computers so that they will be in the same network...
change network config in puppy ...

this is really a good idea and I've been thinking about this for a while now...
Terminal Servers are cool and would really be beneficial for puppy community...

imagine if this is finalized and goes operational we can use one BIGPuppyfied Server Computer and multiple smallPuppyfied ...

Why puppy does not seem to stand up?

No idea...Puppy works for me...although there seems to be less apps in the PPM compared to the other Distro's Package manager the forum serves this purpose...

It really tells that Puppy is a community driven Distro...If your not much of a reader or forum ...

Ive used UnetBootin with Puppy in the past in the past...installed using windows installer...for frugal install to a usb UnetBootin is good...
but if you can understand how boot loader works its pretty simple to use Syslinux...I tried using the installer from Slax...modified the ...

I've done this for a long time...

I just use the same lay-out in the usb setup for slax then tweak it for puppy...maybe we can do a usb-easy puppy package....

thats what I used in my sfs...

try NOP...or macpup both preety and functional...

ei keanen...you dont need to extract the sfs into the filesystem...
you just need to put it in the /mnt/home directory and load it using the boot manager so that it wont use any space from your personal storage...if the small python from techno dont work for you try mine in the same link ...

sorry about the size of the package...its quite big about 17mb+ compared to technos 3-6mb packages with pygtk and other goodies...
I didn't do any stripping because I don't know a safe way to strip unnecessary ...

out of curiosity and laziness to investigate myself I've got to ask this...

have you notice during boot up the message:

copying pup-431.sfs to RAM...
....
....
loading swap at sda1...
....
....

or something like that.....
does this mean that the pup-431.sfs is copied in the RAM ...
