OK, now 6 days and over 100 views out, I have received no comments. Did this work for anybody? Any clarification you need? I'm happily watching Netflix on my Precise Puppy virtually every day, only issue is that Firefox may crash a time or two in the beginning. That's a small price for a made up sol...

How I watch Netflix on Precise Puppy and Tahrpup
I was going to keep this to myself, but I figured there might be some interest in this. I had spent some time trying out things from mr_what's expansive HOW-TO : http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=86016 where he uses Wine to run a Windows version of Firefox. I had some success but most...

Well this wifi problem is turning out to be bigger than I thought at first, as I'm unable to connect to a second wireless router... After trying to connect to a couple more routers as I mentioned here, http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=86425 , I concluded that in fact the wireless card w...

Thanks for your response. I am indeed in the US. So if I were to make a new savefile, do I lose the contents of the current mounted /aufs/devsave, the whole partition? Just so I know so I can prepare in advance. But just for the record, does it seem I'm on the right track as to the reason for not fin...

Not Finding Networks, Atheros AR9285 (Solved, maybe)
I'm running FatDog 620 in a full install on a Lenovo G585 laptop (1.3 GHz, 2 GB), dual booting with Win8. When I first installed FatDog, the wireless worked fine. Then I dabbled with different localizations to get the Japanese fonts working, though I am now back to US English (en_US.UTF-8 ). Since m...

... BTW, unrelated but the wifi on this lenovo laptop (allegedly ath9k) doesn't seem to be able to even see the current hotspot, an Apple Airport. It does it fine in Win8 and my other laptop sees it in Wary. This lenovo has seen other wireless routers. ... Well this wifi problem is turning out to b...

Also, I was looking for something with Japanese language support for my client <<... snip...>> Right now, for example using FatDog and browsers to look at email with Japanese characters just shows rectangles. Is there a simple solution? 1. Use an UTF-8 locale (en_US.UTF-8 would do, or any other UTF...

My only suggestion is trying to switch your video driver as well. There is a log that you can read --->/var/log/Xorg.0.log It might explain what file can't be loaded by xorg. ... I'm not at my home computer but here's where to look The Xorg drivers can be found in /usr/[X11R7/]lib/xorg/modules/driv...

I installed FD620 on a newish Lenovo G585 laptop (1.3 GHz, 2 GB). Although I've installed a bunch of Puppies on different machines over the past five years, this is my first 64 bit Puppy and also my first run-in with UEFI and Windows 8. After messing with the boot order in UEFI, I managed to boot th...

Broken Xorg in Fluppy
I have been using Fluppy-013 for a couple of years on a full install on my HP/Compaq nx6325 laptop(1.6 GHz, 1GB). I was trying out the Audacity 2.0 pet when the system froze. After a hard reboot, all seems well until starting X, where it hangs, similar to http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?s...

Not that it's necessarily related to your specific problem, but I tried 4.2.1 in a computer that is not too old, say 5 years old, and I think it wouldn't even boot or something (I can't remember exactly what the problem was, but it wasn't working correctly). Then I tried the retro version of 4.2.1 ...

bigpup, Thanks for your input, but my problem is not with Gparted, per se. The problem is that although I can use other Gparted to create whatever partitions I desire, I cannot get the 4.2.1 installer (and incidentally GParted 0.3.3) to recognize the existence of of those partitions. I did look at t...

An update: thinking the problem was the presence of an extended partition, sda4, with logical partitions (sda5 and sda6), I wiped out the logical partitions and the extended partition using Gparted 0.9.0 on Hiren's Boot CD. Still no joy  4.2.1's installer and Gparted 0.3.3 still sees the whole ...

4.2.1 Installer Problem -- No partitions
I've been using Puppy for several years now on various machines and have had no particular problem with installation until now. It's a Dell desktop with reasonable specs (2.8 GHz, 512 MB, 40 GB), but I'm having problems with the Universal Installer for 4.2.1. When the installer looks at the hard dri...
