From the old times on Tahrpup I always managed ext4 format and full install over some 1Tb HDs, I'm very satisfied this kind of use, so I will not 'forget' the full install, that's why never used FatDog as stable OS.

I have spent hours improving an old PC just to test fossapup64, and I cannot perform a full installation.
Is it my mistake or is it still not possible?.

udevd deamon is properly initialised in my machine; /etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit, no need /dev/disk/by-id/ symlinks.
U can access via command line but udev is not implemented and udevadm is.
You need previously copy this commands as new to /bin folder and don't care about missing links. So udev is ...

although VLC start in an error windows showing this:
libvlc warning: cannot read /usr/lib/vlc/plugins ...

Has anyone reached to use VLC media player in Bionicpup64?

Many weeks using Bionicpup64 8.0 as my first O.S. in full install, and if I need to process some video, I must back to a Tahr frugal install aside Bionic in my HD.

Tryed VLC pet or sfs or appimage from various repositories... unlucky.

Yes I found also this issue since I use rar decompression in .cbr and .cbz comics archive packs.
My surgical solution was deleting this file: 7z-wrap.sh
You can found this wrapper navigating to: /usr/lib/xarchive/wrappers/

I know is a drastical solution but it works for me.

testing Bionicpup64 8.0 ....
ready to jump from tahrpup, and try a full install of 8.0 on a quad core.
all seems a very very good work.

Bionicpup64 lets me only 1640x1440 as maximum definition meanwhile tahrpup and Xenial ever allow me achieve HD 1920x1080 bit.
Waiting for migrate to Bionic final version.

No video, only black screen and when started from console get errors about apulse play.

Now I'm using VLC 2.2.8 in Appimage form (PPM offers only 2.2.2 version and It puts a lot of garbage not necessary ...

sed -i 's/geteuid/getppid/' /usr/bin/vlc

applied to modify the vlc aplication located at /usr/bin/
I can't read this 'vlc' x-executable... do you know how ...
