Sorry, hate to bump threads but I still can't get rdesktop stable. It continues to crash to the desktop at random usually shortly after login when bringing up the first app or two on the remote server. This doesn't give much to go on, but how do I log what event causes it to crash so I can review it...

I agree with Lobster 100%. Use what works for you. Although my main desktop computer runs Windoz due to some of the software I run (remote desktop, games and music recording), my old Presario laptop is 100% full install Puppy and probably gets more use than any other computer in the house (including...

I use frequently the puppysearch link in my sig. Gives very good results. I have that link bookmarked and agree it gives good, fast results. I thought I remember it was Mosaic => Netscape => Mozilla.... I was a Mosaic user in the early days and actually used Netscape 1.x (suite) although it was aro...

Why SeaMonkey instead of Skipstone Browser in Puppy?
I have been using the Skipstone browser (available through the package manager) instead of Sea Monkey. I really like it and find it very much faster, has a cleaner interface and handles all the embedded content that I have come across. Just a quick question as to why this wasn't maybe included as th...

This works a treat for me but am wanting the rdesktop app to start up so that it directly goes into the remote login screen. What would be the best/easiest way to accomplish this? BTW love the discussions here. That is exactly what I posted above. Create the one line file. Using chmod make it execu...

Re: Puppy 4.1 doesn't play nice with remotedesktop
It seems no matter how I install remote desktop, it never shows up on the screen. It will list on the menu under network, but nothing happens after I select it (the hard drive does do a little activity, but that's it). --pete Same here. The menu shortcut does nothing. I did create an executable scr...

Yes, I've seen Puppy do really strange things after notebook batteries died. The last one for me was with a PCMCIA wireless network (Linksys) card. It was on an old Presario laptop and the install and initial wireless connect was flawless. A few days later (and many reboots), I looked over and it wa...

There are two gui frontends, although I'm not sure if there is one in the latest Puppy, as I think the more recent and better version was based on gnocl, which was removed to save space. You can certainly install one if it isn't there by default. I didn't see any rdesktop in the menu listing so I w...

I knew 2.4 had support for allot of older hardware that 2.6 had dropped and was curious how far back I had to go to be able to try that kernel. I'm not really anxious to go there seeing how far back it is. I like the newer versions of the software included with the 2.6 kernel and Puppy 4.0. Although...

Kernel Version?
I see Puppy 4.0 is using kernel 2.6.x. How far back in Puppy versions does one need to go to use kernel 2.4.x?
