Where can I get Woof?

Ok. I feel like a moron.

I cannot remember where to get a copy of Woof from and I know it's something that is staring me in the face laughing hysterically at me.

Feel free to laugh at me... :lol:

Booting in Virtual Box

Ok. I know I've done this before. I booted Virtual Box with the Live CD image of Slacko, set up the hard drive image, did the full install like I usually would complete with GRUB, and rebooted... It fails to boot if I remove the CD image from the drive manager.

Any ideas?

As do I. It's my first such attempt, so I'm kinda nervous. Hence me taking my time with it. I'm going to have to figure out which puplet to start off with. I currwntly run Slacko, myself. I'm going to be making good use of VirtualBox for this one, and I'm going to see just what Woof can really do, a...

Ok. So, I have decided on my base being Debian compatible. Debian, after checking out their repositories, has, IMHO, the best sets of Server packages to make this an easier project. I will begin working on this build shortly.

I also have a 1TB external connected if I need to move the files. However, for the ibiblio files, I have 111 Gb usable. That leaves apt 2Gb growing room give or take. I am trying to do all of them, though. Even puppyrus is there. ;-)

Having read the syntax, try running the make dep command there in the folder you're already in. Might sound odd, but, dep is short for dependencies, which it seems some files are missing. try giving that a shot and let me know what your output is.

For the first part, edit your jwmrc and then run the update menus option. Might work, might not.

You can manually mount it there.

Code: Select all

#umount /dev/rio500
#mount /sdx# /dev/usb/rio500
I might have the mount part backwards. You'll have to play with it and see.

umount = unmount
mount = well... mount

If it's a bad sector, in a Windows command prompt run the following:

Code: Select all

chkdsk /r C:
This forces CHKDSK to scan the disk and repairs/reroutes bad sectors on the disk. I'm not 100% sure, but I would run this from within the recovery console, not the OS.

Please post more details for us to be able to better assist you. I agree with the previous post, assuming that you're wanting to boot from USB even if you forget and leave a CD/DVD in the drive.
