SSDeliverance
My title should have been more specific. I gave Win 8.1 (with free upgrade to '10) about a week on my box. The screen resolution was HORRIBLE. Windows support forums were anything but. Sorting out and downloading the correct driver accomplished nothing. Fortunately, the big box store where I bought ...

Probably should be
Saw a very good TED talk via Youtube but cannot remember the speaker. Do a search there. Not all gloom and doom, but very concerned that machines could choose efficiency over other important factors. There is certainly a corollary between this and GE foods and life forms that corporations want to pa...

Slacko sees my Garmin action cam when other OS wouldn't
So, because I have engaged in video editing from my Garmin action cam, and because that company treats Linux users as having no class at all, I held my nose and bought the full version of 8.1 (you know the one). Last night, the install media would not recognize my new PNY CS2000 SERIES SSD. 240 GB. ...

Oh hell yeah! That's more like it!
Whereas Wary 5.13 showed 1.3g free space, Fatdog has 3.7. Woohoo!!! I should have been thinking of the 64 bit thing. Now I'm gonna try latest mint live to see what sys monitor gives me. This is the cat's meow...the bee's knees...the s**t on a stick!

Thanks all.
@ bigpup, I was running it live with a savefile.
@ Steeley & James, I will try fatdog. I just wanted the capability to download & archive large ISO's or large files while in a live session (and not write anything to hd or flash drives) then archive same.

Puppy not utilizing all (or most) available RAM
I think the applet in the panel is called 'blinky'. It is showing nowhere close to actual onboard ram. Only between 1&2g. I have used Wary, not the latest puppy, and that could be a factor. I ran a live session of Mint and installed/ran lshw to confirm that onboard ram is 8gb. (have 1.5tb hard d...

Graphics in 4.3
I use an nvidia GeForce FX 5200 PCI graphics card on my main system The card is 32 bit and clock: 66MHz. My mainboard is MSI with an Intel 64 Bit CPU and 2 gigs of memory. Monitor is HP w1907 connected with DVI cable. Puppy 4.2 and earlier was a no brainer to select xvesa and set my resolution, yet ...

re-master
Thanks in advance. I can see how it's inconvenient for xvesa to be unavailable. The box I'm running on now has an older ATI card and does not play well with Xorg.

Dougal Enhanced Remaster
I love the leaps and bounds that this distribution and it's puplets make! What is sorely missed beyond version 2.17 is Dougal's enhanced remaster. The standard remaster is great in it's own right. But from my perspective, the D.E.R. saved all web browser bookmarks; settings...everything. Everything....

Wow
Puppy in general and this derivative in particular are the bee's knees. I would go so far as to suggest that the I-candy you folks produce collectively and individually, equals or surpasses that of E17.
All the best,
