It looks increasingly as though the best solution is a newer Puppy. M'lady is trialing a thumb drive install of LXArtful done with rcrsn51's ISOBooter (foolproof installs every time here), and lovin' it. Probably that OS will shortly be going onto the laptop and the problem will disappear. There see...

ITSMERSH: Hindsight has its own rewards, but since the previous USBHDs in the family were FAT32 and that format is compatible with Misco$oft when the genealogists get a-talking, and Puppy bless its cotton sox can read it anyway, reformatting to ext format was counter productive. The question is: Can...

NTFS Formatted USB Harddrive - Changing Permissions.
My darling has a Compaq Presario C500 running LxPup-Precise-Retro 14.02 generally quite happily and I'm not allowed near it because I "break it." She is saving out data from Ancestry and I have insisted that she back-up to a separate hard-drive due to the quantity of stuff she has accumula...

I'm marking this as SOLVED because I now have my EeePC going into Suspend when the lid is shut, made possible by alterations to the suspend.sh file that cause it to not recognise the SD Cardreader as a USB device and so resist the action. This is NOT to be recommended but works for me on my netbook....

Nub: My 2 cent's worth, I have an elderly EeePC 701 4G that had Jemimah's Puppeee installed to the internal SSD for a long time, and was only swapped for Saluki because that had Frisbee which worked better 'roaming'. Saluki is still in place as the go-to because it is darn near bulletproof on this m...

Sorry, I broke my suspend.sh with copy-and-paste. It has been recovered and the two lidcheck code lines added back where specified at # add. /temp/lidcheck remains empty and still no suspend. My current accurately updated /etc/acpi/actions/suspend.sh is here: #!/bin/sh # suspend.sh 28sep09 by shinob...

Marv: I've done as I was told. I think I have anyway. The last code reported to /tmp/ that the lid was closed but no Suspend ensued. So I added your flakey switch code and removed the test code, and closed the lid and waited. Not 5mins obviously. But no Suspend still. I've published my current suspe...

Marv's published Artful suspend.sh was copied into /etc/acpi/actions/, the original renamed .old and the machine rebooted. Shutting the lid still changes nothing. Neither does PupShutDown Manager. The homemade Desktop link still works. Note please that the OS is now UpupBB and not the original Artfu...

(Sorry, been away for a bit.) Marv: did- echo -n mem > /sys/power/state -and got an instant Suspend. And it came back with a touch on the power switch. However, due to the Save File being formatted ext2 (??), there were missing inodes all over the boot-up parade screen and Artful was not a happy aar...

Looking For A Suspend That Suits ArtfulPup.(SOLVED)
ASUS EeePC 701 4G, Celeron processor, 1Gb RAM, 1Gb Swap partition, Saluki full on SSD, ArtfulPup on SD card. The ArtyPup install is working really well on this netbook, but one of the features missed is Saluki's ability to Suspend on lid close and wake up refreshed and ready to go. Laptop-mode has b...

mostly_lurking: Renaming to .bak fails because Rename isn't available in the file manager menu. I'm using PCManFM. So I disabled it in the boot start-up list, which also failed. It just reappeared in the allowed column. Out of curiosity I saved /netmon_wce.desktop as /netmon_wce.bak.desktop and move...

After booting, two Frisbees in the taskbar!(SOLVED)
Asus EeePC 701 4G with ArtfulPup running from a full install on an SD card. The Desktop Taskbar, the one across the bottom of the screen, composes itself on boot with the clock, CPU activity, the usual collection of icons, and two instances of Frisbee. On an 800x480 screen real estate is at a premiu...

hplip_print_scan-3.16.11.pet. Link Broken.(SOLVED)
rcrsn51's excellent directions on installing printers/scanners contained links to forward and backward compatible HP drivers. The forward one is hplip_print_scan-3.16.11.pet. In the past I have installed the forward facing one on a couple of machines successfully but can't find where I archived it t...
